Describe your business. Did you find it, or did it find you?
My business is a full tailoring service specializing in men’s, women’s and bridal alterations, as well as men’s suits. At the age of 18, I moved to the U.S. and worked at a factory making men’s suits.
What was the first job you ever had, and what did you learn from the experience?
I worked at Hugo Boss making men’s suits from start to finish. I learned how quality is very important. Later, I worked for Nordstrom as a manager in the tailoring department, which is where I learned the true meaning of customer service. The combined experience of those two jobs is the backbone of my business.
How are you involved with both the community and your customer?
I’m a member of the El Dorado Hills Chamber of Commerce and received the “Best Start-Up Business for 2012” award. I love the community so much that we decided to buy our own home in El Dorado Hills.
What life accomplishments are you most proud of?
My family, including my marriage of 29 years and my three children who have made me so proud with all of their achievements. My oldest son is a firefighter, the other is studying engineering at Cal Poly Pomona, and my daughter skipped a year of college so she could stay home and nurture me back to health.
Who is your role model?
Other cancer survivors. After my recent diagnosis and treatment, I have received so much support and encouragement from my customers. Many of them are survivors, and the support I’ve received has been touching.
Where do you go when the going gets tough?
I love spending time in the El Dorado Hills Town Center. I enjoy the concerts and occasionally some retail therapy at Runway Boutique or Lazio!
