High School Students Take Over the Fausel House Gallery March 3, 2016
The Fausel House Gallery is open Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, and every 3rd Saturday ArtWalk from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
The El Dorado Arts Council (EDAC) announces an El Dorado County Student Exhibition entitled Art From the Horizon, showcasing artwork from local high school students.
The Exhibition will be held March 3 through April 7, 2016. Participating high schools include El Dorado High School, Independence High School, Ponderosa High School, and South Lake Tahoe High School.
A 3rd Saturday ArtWalk artist reception will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2016, at 5:00 pm when the students will be recognized for their artistic efforts.
Candi Lincoln, art teacher at South Lake Tahoe High School, is thrilled that her students have the opportunity to showcase their work. “Art is an internal journey of self-discovery. To share that in the Fausel House Gallery is reaffirming for both the artist and visitor.”
Independence High School art teacher Jen Tomei is especially proud of her art students: “During my first year teaching art at Independence High School, I have found such joy in helping my students develop their creative skills as they use art as a lens through which they can view the world.”
Tomei also appreciates the complexity of her students’ creations. “Two of the student pieces that will be included in Art From the Horizon depict social issues that their generation is facing. Other student submissions portray a reflective view of the world. I am very proud of my students’ efforts and dedication to the artistic process and grateful to the El Dorado Arts Council for showcasing their artwork,” says Tomei.
