Seventy Embroidered Works of the Highest Quality Coming to Placerville
Placerville, CA – El Dorado Arts Council (EDAC), in partnership with the Hanging By A Thread chapter of the Greater Pacific Region, hosts The Embroiderers’ Guild of America’s 20th National Exhibit, titled Through the Needle’s Eye. This traveling exhibition will be featured at the Fausel House Gallery Wednesday, June 1, through Wednesday, July 27, 2016.
The national exhibit is a representative selection of the best in artistic and technical embroidery. Organized by The Embroiderers’ Guild of America, the exhibition embraces both traditional and contemporary needlework while expanding the perception of embroidery as an art form.
The president of Hanging By A Thread, Denise Grady-King, is responsible for making the Placerville exhibition possible. “We are tremendously excited to be bringing this National Embroidery Exhibit to Northern California and plan to draw attendees from all over the state and beyond. As a small chapter of 36 members, this is a challenging project that will no doubt be a success.”
Pamela Norton, Greater Pacific Region exhibit chair, is ecstatic to see the show up close and personal. “This is a once in a lifetime opportunity. I am encouraging everyone to stop in at the Fausel House Gallery and see the Through the Needle’s Eye exhibit.”
Hanging By A Thread board secretary Billie Hoover is equally excited about the Placerville exhibit. “A beautiful display of painting without paint, Through the Needle’s Eye reveals remarkable creations of threads and fibers.”
The Fausel House Gallery is open Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, and every 3rd Saturday ArtWalk from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Hanging By A Thread is the Placerville area chapter of The Embroiderers’ Guild of America, Inc. The Embroiderers’ Guild of America was established in 1958 as the American branch of the prestigious Embroiderers’ Guild in England. It was formed for the express purpose of fostering the art of needlework by encouraging a high standard of design and technique.
