The Fall Recreation Guide is out and chock-full of events and activities for all!

Wednesdays On Tap returns September 14 and continues thru October 19. From 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Vernon Street Town Square, for only $10, sample regional brews and listen to live music.

May the force be with you at 7:30 p.m. on September 16 for a screening of Star Wars: The Force Awakens during Friday Flicks. If the future isn’t your thing, don’t fret; on September 24 there’s a Movie Night Sing-Along featuring Grease. The movie starts at 7:30 p.m., but come early for a classic car show at 6 p.m. Both movies are shown at the Vernon Street Town Square with food and adult beverages available for purchase.

At 7:30 p.m. on September 17, the Cripple Creek Band performs on the square. The band’s set list includes both covers and original tunes from a variety of music genres, including country, rock and Southern rock. Enjoy the show for free, but bring money for food and adult beverages.

The fourth annual Family Fest on September 24 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Vernon Street Town Square features an interactive truck exploration zone, food truck grub, kids’ zone—complete with bounce houses—and family-friendly vendors.

September Sizzles

Just because school is in session, doesn’t mean the fun has to end!

On September 11, honor those who serve our community and country at Rocklin Patriot Day. Johnson-Springview Park plays host to the event where attendees can watch a variety of demonstrations by police and fire, including the Jaws of Life and helicopter stunts; multiple vendors, kids’ activities, food and entertainment will also be available. For more info, visit rocklinpatriotday.com.

If you’re ready for a modern take on jazz, grab tickets to see the famous Molly Ringwald—live at Quarry Park Amphitheater on September 17! The Pretty in Pink movie star was singing long before she became known as a Golden Globe-nominated actress. With influences like Ella Fitzgerald, Blossom Dearie and Bessie Smith, Ringwald has always had a connection to jazz, but during the ’80s, felt like she was the only one who did. Joining her for this performance is her father, Bob Ringwald, a major staple in the California jazz scene and former Placer County resident who helped found the Sacramento Traditional Jazz Society and has taken his classic ragtime stylings all over the world. Tickets for An Evening with Molly Ringwald start at $39 and can be purchased at aneveningwithmollyringwald.eventbrite.com.

Closing out the month is the final “Park it! Food Truck Frenzy” of the season. A yummy collection of interesting, classic and fun food trucks will be parked at Kathy Lund Park from 5-9 p.m. on September 22; live music, lawn games and kids’ activities round out the fun. Details can be found at rocklin.ca.us/foodtrucks.
