Folsom Parks and Recreation’s day camps are a great way for kids and teens to stay active and engaged while they’re out of school—thanks to a supervised, positive and inclusive environment with trained and caring staff. Sessions start in May; times vary from a few hours to all day with extended-care options.
Vacation Zone offers week-long sessions that include theme days, outdoor games, arts and crafts, swimming, and field trips to the movies, water parks, a region-wide Camp-A-Palooza competition and more. Campers are divided into groups for ages 5-7 and 8-10, to ensure activities are age-appropriate. The camp runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, with early drop-off and late pick-up options available for an additional fee.
Summer CAVE is open to incoming sixth graders through outgoing eighth graders and held Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Activities include sports, organized games, walking excursions, and field trips to enjoy outdoor adventures and theme parks.

Folsom Zoo Sanctuary camps have sessions for ages 4-7, 8-11 and 12-15. Young campers get to meet some of the zoo’s outreach animals and learn about animals through songs, crafts and stories; while older kids try their hand at real zookeeper duties—preparing meals for the animals, cleaning exhibits and creating enrichment. Animal handling, grooming and training demonstrations are also included, in addition to facts and stories about the animals.
Sports camps offer a variety of options to keep kids on the move while focusing on fitness and fun, including the “Bike, Scooter, Skate and Swim Camp,” where kids start the day at the Folsom Skate and Bike Park and finish at the Folsom Aquatic Center.
The Academy Camp and Aquatic Adventure Camp provide kids ages 8-12 with opportunities to learn about lifeguard training and duties, and enjoy days filled with swimming and outdoor play. Camps continue weekly throughout the summer with all-day and afternoon sessions available.
Tech Camps provide hands-on learning and fun for ages 8-15 with topics that run the gamut from video game design to filmmaking.
Theater Camps give attendees ages 5-17 the unique opportunity to participate in a musical performance; all campers are given a role with lines. Kids also learn to sing, dance, act and gain self-confidence as they take part in a live performance of Teen Beach Musical, or Frost: A Frozen Musical.
Camps focusing on arts and crafts, academics, engineering and science, robotics, super heroes, girl power and dance are also offered.
For a complete guide to these camps and others, visit folsom.ca.us; early registration is encouraged, since some camps sell out quickly.
