Mito Kids 5k Walk/Run
April 22 // El Dorado Hills Town Center
This annual 5K walk/run supported the Mitochondrial Disease Foundation and the 4,000 children born annually with the genetically inherited disease. Attendees also enjoyed music, face painting, balloon artists and more.

Spring Fling
April 9 // Palladio at Broadstone, Folsom
The community came out for a day of hunting eggs, face painting, dancing and even a special appearance from the Easter Bunny at this annual all-ages event.

Easter Egg Hunt and Aqua-Egg Hunt
April 15 // El Dorado Hills Community Park and Pool
At this annual Easter egg hunt, roughly 2,000 kids collected approximately 13,000 eggs; in addition, arts, crafts and pictures with the Easter Bunny were available. The Aqua-Egg Hunt—where kids hunted for eggs in the pool, on the surface and below—had over 100 attendees..

OMG Cycle Ribbon Cutting
March 27 // 724 Sutter Street, Folsom
The grand opening of OMG Cycle, a boutique spinning studio that also offers yoga and barre classes, was a fun-filled event that brought over 40 people together, including clients, members of the Folsom Chamber, family and friends.

The Place Within Ribbon Cutting
March 22 // 530 Plaza Drive, Suite 130, Folsom
The Place Within, a non-profit counseling center that believes no one should be denied access to quality counseling services due to lack of funds, recently expanded their facility by 1,600 square feet. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was well attended and included a talk from Executive Director Suzy Lee about the services they provide.

Soroptimist Soiree
April 20 // BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse, Folsom
Soroptimist International of Folsom El Dorado Hills (SIFEDH) hosted a fund-raiser where members, family, friends and the community gathered and “dined for a cause.” With each flyer presented during the event, BJ’s donated 20 percent to support Soroptimists’ mission to improve the lives of women and girls.

Babies and Bumps
April 8 // Citrus Heights Community Center
This ninth annual event featured an array of vendors and boutiques with handmade baby items, entertainment, face painting and prizes. The beneficiary was Blossom Place, which offers support and resources for former foster youth.

American River 50 Mile Endurance Run
April 1 // Folsom Lake State Recreation Area to Auburn
Presented by Clif Bar, this 50-mile endurance race—the most popular in the U.S.—offered runners a chance to view picturesque scenery as they navigated the challenging American River Bike Trail and the Pioneer Express Trail all the way to Auburn. This year’s beneficiaries included Wings for Life, California Conservation of Trails and Running School.

Cake Auction and Student Achievement Awards
March 25 // Virtual Academy High School, El Dorado
At this 10th annual event hosted by Virtual Academy High School, community members gathered to witness a cartoon-themed cake competition, and academic achievement awards were presented to select students. All cakes were auctioned off to the highest bidder, and proceeds benefited Virtual Academy’s Internship Program.
