With Halloween quickly approaching, we don’t tend to associate October with good luck, but these upcoming events prove that assumption wrong.
Food Truck Mania rolls into Vernon Street Town Square on October 12, showcasing some of the region’s best mobile eateries. If you can’t make it for street eats this month, don’t fret: Food trucks are on the menu the second Thursday of every month.
October 20 kicks off a big weekend of fun with two great events. Head to Vernon Street Town Square to watch Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 for free on the big screen, or visit the Maidu Museum and Historic Site for stories around the campfire ($5 per person).
October 21 is the fourth annual Oktoberfest, an adults-only event that includes unlimited beer tastings, dancing, games and live music. Tickets are available online.
Don’t miss the Floating Pumpkin Patch at Mike Shellito Indoor Pool from 1-4 p.m. on October 22. Due to popular demand, everyone must pre-register, as it’s highly likely to sell out.
Need some laughs? You may have seen DC Ervin on NBC’s Last Comic Standing and Laughs on Fox, but now you can see him at the Roseville Theater on October 27. Tickets are available online (prices increase on October 16).
Count Watts’ Spooktacular returns to the Roseville Utility Exploration Center on October 28, and costumes are encouraged.

Harvest Happenings
Traditionally, October means the leaves change, Halloween décor surfaces, and costume decisions are made—but that’s not the only change you’ll find in Rocklin. It also means inventions, experiments and discovery of the unknown. Mark your calendars to explore these truly unique events.
Comedy at the Quarry Make it a night of comedy on October 1. The Platinum Living Amphitheater at Quarry Park will feature Bruce Baum, seen on The Hollywood Squares and in The Simpsons; and Blake Clark, from 50 First Dates, The Waterboy and Grown Ups; with Tom McClain as your emcee. Bring a blanket and your sense of humor for a great night of entertainment, as these hilarious comedians and national acts offer their best outdoor performances. Gates open at 5:30 p.m., and attendees must be at least 18. www.comedyatthequarry.eventbrite.com

From engineers and artists to scientists and crafters, "makers" will showcase innovative projects—including inventions, experiments and creative performances—on October 14 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Sierra College. Admission is free. www.rocklin.makerfaire.com
