Mexican food is my go-to for takeout, but it has to be traditional and authentic. For some of the best, head to Tijuana Taqueria in Placerville for delicious tacos, tortas, carnitas, enchiladas, and burritos—all accompanied by house-made chips and salsa. I tried the Grande Taco, which certainly lived up to its name; it's large...large enough for two. Stuffed full of spicy shredded chicken, along with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and spicy (you can order it less spicy) salsa, it was bursting with flavor. The flour tortilla was lightly and perfectly fried and crispy. Don't miss trying their Chicken Soft Tacos either. Soft, house-made corn tortillas perfectly encase big chunks of nicely cooked and flavorful white meat chicken, beans, onions, and peppers—street tacos as they are meant to be! Don't let the hole-in-the-wall deter you, either: Tijuana Taqueria is muy bueno and well worth the drive to Placerville.
