Last Look: Something to Taco ’Bout — Jimboy’s Celebrates 70 Years
Jimboy’s Tacos (jimboystacos.com)—which started in Kings Beach and now has over 40 locations across California and Nevada, including local outposts in Folsom, Roseville, Rocklin, Auburn, Placerville, and Cameron Park—celebrated their 70th anniversary by hosting a Taco-Eating Contest between local media personalities and dignitaries, including STYLE’s own Emiley Mohr and Jimboy’s CEO Erik Freeman. The first to finish seven tacos—Mark S. Allen—was declared the “winner.” But it wasn’t all fun and food; all 12 contestants picked a nonprofit of their choosing, and Jimboy’s donated $700 to each of them: Jake’s Journey Home, Me-One Foundation, Twin Lakes Food Bank, Keaton’s Child Cancer Alliance, Girls on the Run Greater Sacramento, Firefighters Burn Institute, Sojourner Truth African Heritage Museum, Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services, Orangevale-Fair Oaks Food Bank, Special Olympics NorCAL (Law Enforcement Torch Run), and Vista del Lago High School.
